Danny Danon is the newly elected Chairman of the World Likud, having been successfully elected in June 2006. The position gives him the worldwide responsibility for the Likud movement whose main goal is the promotion of Zionism.

Danny Danon is the Chairman of the Community Action Centers Project, which saw the creation of a network of Community Centers in deprived neighborhoods across Israel.

Danny’s previous positions have included:

Chairman of the World Betar Youth Movement

Senior Advisor to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

Jewish Agency emissary to Miami, Florida from 1994 to 1996.

Overall commander of the Marva program, a joint venture between the IDF and the Jewish Agency.

He studied at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and has a Master's degree in Public Policy and Public Administration and a BA in International Relations.

Danny Danon has been a Member of the Jewish Agency Board of Governors since October 2004.

The year 5766 commences with Jews having been uprooted from their homes. This evacuation was in direct contrast to one of the main principles on which the State of Israel was founded – the settlements.

At this difficult hour we have to strengthen our educational values, our love of the land and our recognition of the Jews historical rights over the Land of Israel. Quoting from the historical leader of Betar, Zeev Jabotinsky: “All that belongs to this land and all that is found in it are worthy of praise and glory – it belongs to us, to the people of Israel”.

During the course of this year we will continue to expand the work of the Betarim in Israel and the world, focusing in the main on education as well as the social needs of the weaker links in Israeli society. Again referring back to the teachings on social reforms by our former mentor Zeev Jabotinsky, we are concentrating our movement activities specifically within development towns and peripheral settlements. We are also continuing to expand the network of Community Action Centers which operate all over Israel.

At this crucial time we will continue to work together to strengthen our mutual values.
